"Stella d'Italia" (Star of Italy) stands as an homage to Italian identity, ingenuity, and creative spirit, created specifically for the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. The work celebrates the nation's continuous dialogue between its profound classical heritage – referencing historical symbols like Italia Turrita (Italy wearing a turreted crown) and the Stellone d'Italia (the Star of Italy) – and its dynamic projection towards the future and innovation.

The star-shaped composition At the heart of the composition are seven figures arranged in a stellar formation, evoking the radiant destiny of the nation (the "Stellone"). A central personification of Italy, whose inspiring gesture recalls the creative power of Renaissance art, offers encouragement to the surrounding talents. These six figures embody key sectors where contemporary Italy excels through a unique passion for both tradition and innovation – fields such as the fine arts, advanced industry, scientific and technological research, fashion and design, and music. Among them, a figure with East Asian features symbolizes an open, evolving Italy, valuing the contributions of "new Italians" shaping the nation's future.

The painting deeply connects with the Pavilion's theme, "Art Regenerates Life," on multiple levels. Firstly, the artwork itself seeks to regenerate the visual language and symbols of Italy's grand artistic tradition, proving their vitality in a modern context. Secondly, it represents the vibrant, productive life of contemporary Italy across its cultural, scientific, and industrial domains, showcasing a society in transformation. Finally, art within the painting is presented as a primary regenerative force: Italy herself is a life-giving source ("fonte vivifica") inspiring talent, conveying a powerful message that culture is the vital sap for continuous progress and renewal.

Ultimately, "Stella d'Italia" is an invitation, particularly to new generations, to recognize the immeasurable value of cultural heritage not as a static museum piece, but as a living, energetic foundation upon which to build the future with confidence, creativity, and determination. It posits art not merely as contemplation, but as an active engine generating the future.
